Gili Eliyahu Adler - The Story of Israel

My name is Gili Eliyahu Adler. I’m 30 years old and I recently started my own business of branding and graphic design called “Horizon”.

Two days before the 71st Independence Day of the State of Israel, I wanted to honour the occasion by marking it in a special way.

As a cornerstone for my new found business, I wanted to find a way to give back: to our community and our state by bringing us all together through images of everything we have in common on which we mark on this day.

Suddenly I had an idea that seemed a bit delusional at first - 50 stories on Instagram showing amazing images of Israel, expressing what 50 different photographers see as Israeli.

I began to turn to professional photographers - my acquaintances from my previous job as a news producer at the TPS news agency.

They were excited about the idea and were eager to cooperate by sending me some of their best work and by spreading the word.

Soon I found myself working on a full time project with a very tight timeline, embodying a concept that I'd call "the Story of Israel", a project that includes the images of 50 photographers.

On Independence Day I got up quite excited with very little sleep and began to upload the project onto my Instagram account.

The reactions were soon to come, thousands of viewers from all over the country and worldwide were amazed and excited by the wonderful photographs telling our story: People, places, events and even local food.

I ended the day with a huge sense of satisfaction and gratitude towards my fellow participants and my beautiful country.
