Victor Majzner has painted in many remote parts of Australia. Landscape is a regular feature of his paintings.

Since his first visit to Israel in 1994, he fell in love with the Negev only to discover that Israel unlike Australia has no Landscape Painting tradition.

He returned to Israel in 1997 to paint a series of paintings about the Negev and his response to it.

This resulted in a major exhibition of the same title in 1999 in Melbourne which was accompanied by this publication. The Negev exhibition was launched by the Israeli Ambassador to Australia at the time.

This book contains a record of some of his location studies in watercolour, most of the major paintings from the series and two essays: 'A Personal Reflection' by Victor Majzner and 'Victor Majzner’s World' by Melbourne writer and journalist Barry Dickins.
