KASHRUT - KOSHER

Welcome to the KASHRUT - KOSHER page of Jewish World Life Online
  • Kashrut refers to the body of Jewish dietary laws determining which foods are fit and proper for consumption.
Visualizing these laws typically involves kosher certification symbols, which are small, stamped logos placed on food packaging by authorized rabbinical agencies to indicate the product adheres to strict dietary guidelines.

In kosher kitchen, it helps that some dishes and utensils are color-coded to separate utensils, dishes and cleaning items. Blue for dairy, red for meat and green or yellow for parve.

D (Dairy): Indicates the food contains milk or was processed on dairy equipment.

M (Meat): Indicates the product contains meat.

    Pareve (or Parve):
Denotes neutral food that contains neither meat nor dairy ingredients.

  • P (Passover): Indicates the product meets the specific, extra-strict dietary requirements for Passover.
